Work Platforms for Automated Welding Stations
Introduction
(2) Extra Wide Double Long Work Platforms Improve Welding Process.
Project Challenge
Komatsu, one of the largest manufacturer and supplier of earth-moving equipment consisting of excavators weighing up to 200,000 lbs. wanted to optimize welding productivity by providing better access levels to the large equipment. They wanted a lifting system that would integrate with their current welding system.
Our Solution
Autoquip’s highly skilled engineers designed (2) Extra Wide Double Long Platforms including custom features to accommodate the welding system. The (2) work platforms are built with traversing base to move the lift in and out of welding positioner’s rotating platform. We also worked with the customer to add safety features on the lift including a sliding connection for fall protection, flame retardant aluminum skirting, and integrated controls with safety features to prevent interference with the (2) work platforms. Extra design features were included to improve operator use by adding a swivel control station, fan mounting, power and air utilities.
The Results
The (2) work platform lifts are now an integral part of Komatsu’s welding process and has provided many safety and productivity benefits to the manufacturing of their heavy equipment.
