Custom Helicopter Maintenance Lift
Introduction
Engineered for Safe Lifting, Positioning, and Transport of Helicopter Fuselages
Project Challenge
Maintaining helicopter fuselages requires more than simply lifting a load. Technicians need safe, ergonomic access to the entire airframe including the underside while maintaining precise positioning throughout inspection, assembly, and maintenance operations.
The customer required a custom lifting solution capable of securely supporting the fuselage at its threaded attachment points while also allowing controlled lifting, tilting, and transport within the facility. The system needed to provide exceptional stability, flexible positioning, and reliable performance without compromising technician safety or access.
Our Solution
Autoquip engineered a custom TorkLift® system specifically for helicopter fuselage maintenance. Designed around the customer’s manufacturing process, the system combines lifting, tilting, and powered transport into a single mobile workstation.
The open-frame platform provides unobstructed access beneath the fuselage, allowing technicians to perform inspections, assembly, and maintenance more efficiently. Custom tooling mounts securely interface with the aircraft’s threaded attachment points, ensuring stable support throughout the work process.
Powered by a 24V DC electric-hydraulic system, the lift features a powered transport base operated by wireless control, allowing operators to safely reposition the aircraft throughout the facility while maintaining full control.
Key Features
- Custom Autoquip TorkLift® designed for helicopter fuselage handling
- Powered transport base with wireless remote control
- Variable fuselage positioning for improved technician access
- Custom tooling mounts designed for threaded aircraft attachment points
- Open-frame platform for unrestricted access to the underside of the fuselage
- 24V DC electric-hydraulic power system
- Lift, tilt, and powered transport capabilities in one integrated solution
Performance Specifications
- Maximum lifting, tilting, and powered transport capacity: 4,000 lb.
- Static capacity (fully lowered): 7,000 lb. when the fuselage is mounted to the threaded attachment points
- When supporting loads above 4,000 lb., the platform remains fully lowered and stationary until the total load is reduced to within the operational lifting capacity.
