Hydraulic Straddle VRC Moves Motorcycles to Upper Level Storage Area
Introduction
Hydraulic straddle VRC takes bikes safely to the upper level for storage at Harley Davidson dealership.
Project Challenge
Space Coast Harley Davidson wanted to move motorcycles from their ground level service area to an upper level storage area, and also out to their interior mezzanine which is part of their dealership showroom. The upper level was otherwise unreachable, the dealership needed a high travel lift option that could safely transfer the motorcycles.
Our Solution
Autoquip designed a hydraulic straddle VRC with a 2,000 lb. capacity and a travel distance of 12 feet to take bikes safely to the upper level. The platform carriage measures 6’x8’ feet allowing the dealership to move several bikes at once. For protection around the lift operation, the VRC was designed with interlocked gates and enclosures at lower level, and with interlocks for customer’s fire doors at the upper level.
The Results
Autoquip worked in partnership with our dealer J-Herbert Corporation to understand the customer’s requirements. This allowed us to design and build the right VRC for the footprint and application. Space Coast Harley has been more than satisfied with the lift and uses the VRC daily to move motorcycles between levels.
