Autoquip was tasked with designing a custom work platform lift that balances worker safety with operational efficiency. The solution needed to provide secure guardrails when the platform is elevated while allowing rapid, unobstructed access when the platform is lowered.

Autoquip engineered a work platform lift featuring collapsible handrails with integrated safety and monitoring systems. Key features include:

• Collapsible Handrails: Handrails fold down easily using two quick-release pins that secure each handrail in either the raised or lowered position.
• Safety Sensors: Each handrail is equipped with sensors to confirm fully raised and fully lowered positions.
• Interlocked Operation: The lift will not raise or lower unless the handrails are fully raised and the “OK to Move” signal is received from the broader system, ensuring complete operational safety.
• Removable Components: Handrails and kick plates are bolted on and can be removed for maintenance or customization. Snap chains must be removed prior to collapsing the handrails.
• Adjustable Power Unit: The lift’s power unit features an adjustable flow control valve, allowing operators to increase lowering time from standard specifications to enhance safety.
• Control Panel: A remotely located control panel with an HMI provides fault information and real-time operational feedback. It communicates key status signals, including lift fully lowered, handrails fully lowered, handrails fully raised, and lift OK to move.
