Carousel Work Platform with Special Tooling Fixture

Carousel Work Platform provides many safety advantages to improve jobsite safety, tooling access and productivity.

Our customer needed a work platform with a large surface area that would hold a fixture for their tooling in the middle while also allowing room for workers to walk around the fixture.

With Autoquip’s extensive catalog of standard and custom lift solutions, we had the exact lift to do the job.  Our engineer team designed a special carousel style platform that would meet the demands of this application.

The platform size is 72” with a customized tooling holder attached to platform for customers tooling. There are (2) self-closing gates that have a status switch.  If the gate is opened during operation, the lift will automatically stop.  Handrails around the lift include an opening at one end of the platform with a thru-bean photo eye sensor.  This is another added safety feature, if something interferes with the beam, the lift will not operate.

The lift system is equipped with a control panel HMI touch screen pre-programed for 2 level stopping using a vertical transducer to talk to PLC and Soft Start Soft Stop included.  The control panel is designed to perform the following functions:

The controls start the power unit which includes valves for the following functions:

1. Inverter duty motor and VFD for the up soft start/stop and adjustable up speed.
2. Proportional flow control valve for down soft start/stop & adjustable down speed.

Travel on the lift is limited to 39” by a cable extension transducer.  The customer’s application required the lift to travel to two stopped positions operated by push button controls wired from the control panel.  When first raising the lift, it will stop at 19.5” travel.  The up button must be released and re-pressed to continue up to the next travel position of 39”. When lowering the lift does not stop at the 19.5” travel but lowers completely.
