Custom Tilter Improves Ergonomics for Aerospace Tooling

90 Degree Tilter with platform sides and locking devices to hold customer’s tooling.

Middle River Aerostructure Systems specializes in the production of jet engine nacelle systems and thrust reversers, along with composite aerostructures for applications on commercial and military aircraft. In 2011 they purchased an Upender Tilter from us, and they are now looking to purchase a second one due to production demands.

Autoquip has experience building several of these types of tilters for this customer, but each project has required a modification to fit the application requirements. For this particular model, we built up the platform sides and added (2) load locking devices with proximity switched for load and lock detection. The customer will load their tooling onto the platform and the lock devices will secure and hold the tooling in place while the equipment is tilted 90 degrees.
